The Children’s Ministry Leadership Course (CMLC) provides specialised theory and practical training in children’s ministries. If you have a heart for reaching children for Christ and discipling them and if you desire to train others in this ministry, CMLC is just what you are looking for.

We believe that one of the main tasks of the Church today is to take the good news of salvation to ‘every creature’ (Mark 16:15). Down through the centuries, the emphasis in many churches has been placed on youth and adults which is valid. However, the children have been desperately neglected.

We believe that ministry to children is crucial for world evangelisation. One-third of the world’s population is younger than 15 years of age. World Vision estimates that more than 80% of the world’s young people, totalling 1.4 billion, are growing up in non-Christian homes. If we are to evangelise the world, we must evangelise its children.

The Lord Jesus said, ‘It is not the will of your Father…that one of these little ones should perish’ (Matt. 18:14) and we believe Christians everywhere should know how to simply lead children to Christ.

There is junior version of SOTC available for young Christians who are 14-15 years old and who want to grow in their faith and learn more about reaching children with the gospel. It is a brilliant time of learning and fellowship. This course is perfect for young people who would like to learn more about reaching children but aren’t old enough to attend the full SOTC.

As well as classes on the various subjects there are Bible studies, times of recreation and praise times.

• Why should we evangelise children?
• The wordless book!
• Can a memory verse be exciting?

We really love to run our Summer Outreach Training Course (SOTC). This training is primarily aimed at those who will help at summer outdoor evangelistic 5-Day Clubs or Camps but is equally suitable for those who teach children in any gospel and church context.

This course will provide youth with excellent teaching to become more effective in sharing the good news of Jesus.

What age do you have to be?
16+

What’s involved?
The course is founded on Biblical preaching in the morning with response times of praise and prayer. The remainder of the day consists of classes and practical demonstrations. There’s free time too – which could include coffee and chat, walks or sports time like volleyball!

Subjects studied include:

• Biblical basis for evangelising children.
• Preparing and presenting an evangelistic Bible Lesson.
• What is the gospel?
• Counselling children.
• Quiz – recap and reinforce.
• Conducting an open-air meeting for children.

To complete the course, participants have to do some practicals which include teaching an evangelistic Bible Lesson and a Memory Verse and participating in a demo 5-Day Club.

Normally after training, you are encouraged to work in a team taking the gospel to children in your area.

To be part of the Summer Outreach Training Course, you must know the Lord Jesus as your Saviour and be seeking to live a life that pleases him. You must also agree with the CEF Statement of Faith, which you will be required to sign. CEF statement of faith

Not only is this a week where you will learn a lot about teaching children more effectively, but it is a week of great fellowship and making new friends. All this adds up to making a week not to be missed! 

We offer training to churches for their children’s workers through 40minute seminars.  We can tailor the training together to meet your needs.  We have our own courses too.  There are different courses for different age groups, so there’s something for you!  We are here to help you, to help equip you and develop the skills you need.

Teaching Children Effectively (TCE) is designed to offer a fresh approach to evangelising and teaching children.

Based on solid biblical and helpful educational principles, the course provides the methods and procedures to lead children to Christ and immediately equips the believer to begin and sustain a ministry in the community where they live. Student practicals are a vital part of the instructional procedure making TCE a refreshing way to train Christians in child evangelism and discipleship.

Level 1 focus on the evangelism of children. Level 2 builds on this and concentrates further on the discipleship of children.

This can be done in person, online via zoom or a ‘hybrid’ of the both methods if preferred.
